Are you a cat or a dog person, or both? - Opinion Matters

Are you a cat or a dog person, or both?

cat person or dog person

I find any critter adorable in their nature. All pets have both negatives and positives, and one must weigh all pros and cons to find out what resonates with you more.

With Cats

For example, with cats, you have to fit into their busy day. If your cat is sitting on a window sill or the top of your cupboards, and you think the cat has plenty of time for you, that's a wrong assumption.

Here, you find yourself inching toward the beast with a question, "Will you accept me petting you today, my precious pet cat?"

Only to find your cat standing up, stretching, jumping on the floor, and strutting out of the room.

"But I cleaned your poop box. I gave you food this morning. Please accept me." You say, but your furry pet is so far away already, in a different room - they don't care much.

With pride, the cat will intrude, regardless if you are busy or what you are doing. That's right! They won't care that you are cooking something in the kitchen, finishing a project for work, or posting a post on your social media. It's their time now!

They are your boss, and it's their petting time, end of the story. They will make it very visible. Jumping on your computer, shredding a newspaper or scratching themselves against your legs while you are in the kitchen to the extent you balance yourself not to fall. Your cat is a loyal companion but could be fussy at times.

With Dogs

On the other hand, dogs will attempt to fit into your busy day in an almost insidious way that all your time will end up The You and Your Dog Time - unless you are assertive enough.

Dogs give humans rewards by wagging their tails - a signal of approval. You pet a dog, and they wag its tail, signalling its acceptance, and on average, we don't get much of that. Count how many times you tried to fit in with some peers, or you've tried to be friendly with your co-workers, but they still spill a blurb about you behind your back, eh?

With dogs, your pet, wag, you are happy - that's your reward. The overpowering need to be accepted all the time makes you pet your dog more often, spending more and more time with them. Then, your friends ask, "U free?" You, in return, will type back, "Busy, bro."

In reality, you are sitting next to your dog and free because it's Friday evening, and tomorrow is a weekend. Anyway, you want your reward, and you find yourself petting your dog, your dog wags its tail, and you get your acceptance reward. Your weekend is your free time, but it's you and your pet dog! The rest is a mystery, history or however you'd like to put it.

In Conclusion

I had experience with cats and dogs; they are all lovely in different ways. Some people may have been exposed to cats more or dogs more - and that’s how they may create their preferences.

Both cats and dogs mooch your food. Sometimes they drill into your soul with their eyes and hypnotize you to give them your food. Other times, they will make you accidentally drop your food on the floor. Yet, on rare occasions, dogs and cats sneak into your plate directly without asking or attempting to reach your plate and collect whatever food they can reach with their tongue, be it a piece of meat or a mushed potato.

Yet, some people may have a phobia toward animals in general. Animals take a tremendous responsibility, time, and yearly vet visits. Not to mention the addition of any pet will require more cleaning.

However, at the end of the day, when you sit on a sofa next to your pet is priceless. Regardless if it’s a cat or a dog, it’s your pet, you take care of it, and you enjoy the pet’s company. Another good thing is that when friendships with people end, your pet buddy will not betray you in the summer, winter, spring and fall, and up until one of you cross to another side.
